Royal Poker Challenge to organize $50,000,000 tournament?

15 Jannuary 2014

Dave Chen, director of the Royal Poker Challenge tournaments, issued a press release yesterdayannouncing the organization of a new $1,000,000 buy-in tournament. Only the winner will be awarded a prize: a sum of $50,000,000!

The tournament is to be played at the 30th of March and, according to the same press release, 48 players are already confirmed. The names of these players haven't been revealed.

As ambassadors for the tournament, members of royal families from England, Denmark, Monaco and several African and Asian monarchies have been chosen. These royal ambassadors will receive substantial participation prizes, which will be donated to charitable institutions of their choosing.

"If any of these ambassadors proceed to win the tournament, their winnings will also be donated to their designated charities."

According to Dave Chen, "poker is a true game that cuts across all class and income barriers. It tests skills, nerves and courage in a way that’s incomparable to other card games. There is no higher drama and examination of character and personality than a high stakes poker game. With the splashing 50 million dollar prize, in the remarkable city of Sydney, this should be an historic event indeed. "

Although none of the players' names have been revealed, the press release states that many players are "wealthy and successful individuals as well as professional poker players from Europe, America and Asia. Among the participants are high profile Hollywood celebrities."

The tournament is scheduled to take place at The Star Hotel and Casino, in Sidney, at the 30th of March 2014.
