North-americans don't oppose online poker, survey says

06 December 2025

A survey done by the Online Poker Report website to 1,500 north-americans, through Google Consumer Surveys, reached the conclusion that 60% of people are for or maintain a neutral position on online poker.

This study was done after Sheldon Adelson himself presented the results of a telephone survey of the citizens of four states (California, Kentucky, Virginia and Pennsylvania), where 63% of respondents proved to be against online gambling.

In this survey, people were asked to evaluate their attitude towards online poker, in a scale of 1 to 5, "1" being totally against "5" totally in favor.

The results were as follows:

To the OnlinePokerReport website this results contrast with Adelson's survey, who hired the Tarrance Group company to do the phone calls. One of the problems with Adelson's survey is, for the authors of this new study, that the totality of the survey's answers weren't revealed and that the questions were too vague.

Since the debate on online poker at a federal level may begin this January, it's very likely that more surveys and studies will appear during the next months.
