David Rebuck, head of the New Jersey state agency responsible for online gambling, visited the Borgata yesterday to deliver the first online gambling license in New Jersey. The Borgata is the first company to be allowed to launch their online room on November 26, the date set for the opening of the new online gambling market .
The Borgata is part of the MGM group and Boyd Gaming, and will have bwin.party as technological partner. Tom Ballance, President and CEO of Borgata, received the license from the hands of Rebuck himself. In his own words:
"We are honored to receive New Jersey’s first Internet gaming permit. Borgata and bwin.party are aggressively pursuing our objective of being among the first to launch online gaming in the state. We believe online gaming is an exciting growth opportunity for New Jersey’s gaming industry, one that will generate significant benefits for the state as New Jersey assumes a leadership role in this emerging form of gaming entertainment."
Although the market will only open on November 26, companies will have to launch their websites/gaming rooms at least
5 days before, in order for them to be tested in a real-life environment by a restricted group of people.
