PokerStars Acquires Full Tilt - Agreement with DoJ complete

Finally the news we were all waiting for, PokerStars and the DoJ just made official the $731Million agreement for the acquisition of Full Tilt Poker assets with immediate effect. The agreement, approved by the DoJ, is finally complete and allows Full Tilt Poker to forfeit all assets to the US Government, then transfer those assets to PokerStars management and in return the government agrees to remove all civil complaints against Full Tilt companies.

The Gaming Policy Committee of Nevada gathered last Wednesday to discuss the final adjustments to be made before the first online poker rooms are launched. For now, they focus on the numbers: the poker rooms will pay a 6,75% tax on cash games and some tournaments will be free of taxes.

Online Poker traffic went down 18% last year

According to a study made by the specialized portal Pokerscout.com, global online traffic in the last 12 months was reduced by 18%. Much of the blame for this big fall was the closures of two of the biggest online poker rooms in the world: Full TiltPoker and Ultimate Bet Poker, both closed in the "Black Friday" wipeout.
