Esfandiari quit on his bet to go celibate for one year

09 November 2025

Last August, Bills Perkins revelead the eccentric bet that Antonio Esfandiari had took: the winner of the biggest tournament ever (Big One for One Drop) would have to go one year without sexual relationships. Some say the prize was $500,000.

The idea for the bet happened in a trip to Stockholm, between Esfandiari, Perkins and Jeff Gross. It all started with a smaller bet ($150,000!) in which Esfandiari would have to go one year without eating bread. 15 minutes later, Esfandiari decided to pay $5,000 to quit on the bet. After that (and probably a few bottles later), Esfandiari agreed to go one year without sexual relationships.

"The Magician", who was a ESPN guest commentator for this year's transmission of the final table of the World Series of Poker, revealed he has already paid to quit on the bet, but he hasn't specified any ammount.

Rumour has it that he "celebrated" the end of the bet with one of the Royal Flush Girls - who knows?
