08 November 2025

The Atlantic Club Casino in New Jersey, which was to be sold to PokerStars (a sale that was later canceled), presented this week a request for judicial protection of bankruptcy.

The Atlantic Club Casino owners made the request for judicial protection, following the Chapter 11 on bankruptcy, last Wednesday . It's the 6th casino in Atlantic City (from a total of 12) to use this instrument in the last 6 years.

Since the Court agreed with the fund Colony Capital LLC (owners of the casino) concerning the termination of the sales contract with PokerStars, the company has tried to find new pretenders for the casino, but hasn't had such luck. PokerStars was to buy the casino at an evaluated price of $15 million.

In the second quarter of 2013 the casino had losses of $2.3 million and, according to the Wall Street Journal, this application for judicial protection will end with the auctioning of the enterprise.
