Russian ISP blacklists PokerStars

21 September 2025

The Beeline company, one of the most important ISPs in the Russian Federation, blocked access to the PokerStars.com domain. The Beeline act followed "a decision of the public authorities."

The PokerStars.com domain is part of a blacklist that doesn't includes any of the other major online poker rooms. The list was created according to the "legislation" that requires telecom operators to "restrict access to prohibited information, by court order or under the authority of public officials."

Beeline was the only ISP to block access to the PokerStars.com domain. Local media says, however, that through Google Beeline's customers can access PokerStars.com.

In November 2012 the Russian Supreme Court made the ISPs' responsability to block access to online gambling sites in Russian territory.

Despite the Supreme Court order, the Russian gambling law is subject to many interpretations - it only applies to local operators, and it only regards "luck based games."
