PokerStars - out of New Jersey for at least 2 years

14 December 2025

According to an article in Forbes maganize, authored by Nathan Vardi, New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement has decided to suspend for 2 years the review process of PokerStars' license application.

The Division of Gaming Enforcement made this decision due to PokerStars' association with Isai scheinberg (founder of the online poker room, still under federal indictment).

"The Division’s determination is based primarily on the unresolved federal indictment against Isai Scheinberg for the alleged violation of federal gambling statutes, namely, the Illegal Gambling Business Act and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), and the involvement of certain PokerStars executives with Internet gaming operations in the United States following the enactment of UIGEA,” the New Jersey DGE said in its statement.

PokerStars' license application might be reviewed before the end of the 2-years suspension, as long as "significantly changed circumstances are demonstrated".
