Chris Christie optimistic about New Jersey's online gaming market

08 December 2025

Chris Christie, New Jersey's republican governor, is quite confident about the new online gaming market in his state. He's so confident he believes that, by the 1st of July 2014, online gambling will create billions of dollars in revenue for the Atlantic City casinos.

Unlike Nevada, which only opened an online poker market, New Jersey also opened its doors to casino games, and it's this broader offering that makes Christie optimistic.

New Jersey still wants to include online sports betting in its offering - but the State has to wait for a Supreme Court decision, so that the Atlantic City casinos may offer live sports betting at first and, only then, online.

Market analysts are not as optimistic as Christie, and anticipate a revenue of "only" $300 million in the first year of New Jersey's regulated online gaming market.
