Ola Odd_Oddsen Amundsgård challenged norwegian politicians to play against him, offering 1 million krone ($162,715) to anyone who beats him. Erlend Wiborg, member of the Progressive Party, accepted the challenge - the confrontation will begin this Saturday (7th of December).
Odd_Oddsen intends to prove that poker is a game of skill and not luck - and, as such, it shouldn't be a forbidden game in Norway.
Erlend Wiborg is a recreational poker player but he won't be playing for the money: if he wins he will donate the prize to a charitable institution; instead, he shares Amundsgård's view and wants to prove that poker is a game of skill.
The first session will be played live this Saturday, at the Felix Konferansesenter in Oslo; there will be 130 seats for the audience, who will watch the two players battle it out, each on his own computer.
These are the terms of the duel:
-
10.000 Pot Limit Omaha Hands;
-
Each player will begin with 100 buy-ins (0.50/1 blinds);
-
When the smallest stack only has 300 BBs, that table will be closed and another opened;
-
A minimum of two simultaneous tables;
-
The winner will be the player with most chips by the end of challenge;
-
If a player loses all his chips before the 10.000 hands are played, he will lose;
-
The duel will take place at PokerStars tables;
-
The two players will have to be available a minimum of 120 hours, between the 7th of December and the 7th of May;
-
The two players will have to be available a minimum of 20 hours per month until all 10,000 hands are played.
