North-american market might be worth $1.95 billion dollars

28 December 2025

The closure of the north-american market brought some hardship to online gaming. Today, and with the eminent regulation in many states, many try to estimate the value of the market.

According to eGaming Review, consultant Eilers Research has estimated that by the year 2020 the north-american online gaming market may be worth $1.95 billion dollars. Despite this looking like an exorbitant value, it's inferior to estimates by other consultants.

According to the study, there are various reasons that might reduce the value of the market.

One of the flaws the others studies have is the tendency to assume all states will approve online poker and online gambling, says the study. As we can see from this year's developments, this seems unlikely.

It's also important to take into account that states may opt for legalizing only online poker or the whole range of online gambling.

The study also states that federal laws that prohibite online sports betting are stopping the existence of potencial income.

With all this information, Eilers Research evaluated each state individually. California, being the largest state, would have the most income (a billion dollars) if its legislation resembled the one in New Jersey. Florida would have the second largest income, $500 million, followed by New York, $400 million.
