Jean-François Vilotte to leave ARJEL's presidency

18 December 2025

ARJEL's president, Jean-François Vilotte, will abandon the presidency of the french gambling authority, since he has accepted a job in the private sector. His term was valid for two more years.

No one knows to which company Vilotte will work when he leaves ARJEL, but he will speak at an ARJEL press conference this week and he'll probably shed some light on the subject. The press conference will reinforce a campaign againt fraud and corruption in sports betting.

Vilotte is ARJEL's president since 2009 - he was present when the new regulatory laws of the french market were being drafted, as well as when the national market opened its doors (a market which is facing some serious problems).

As president Vilotte has stated many times that the government needs to review the taxes it's charging to online gaming operators; he has also spoken about the necessity of a shared poker market with other regulated markets.
