This August the Seminole Hard Rock hosted a $5,300 tournament with $10 million guaranteed; with over 2,384 entries the prizepool ammounted to $11,920,000. Now the casino management wants to repeat the feat, but this time the tournament is no more or less than the Main Event of the World Poker Tour.
The World Poker Tour management hasn't made any official announcement yet, but the information has been shared through the Seminole Hard Rock twitter and, later, shared by Matt Savage (Executive Director of the World Poker Tour circuit).
The World Poker Tour Main Event will be played in April 2014 - the event will have a $5,300 buy-in and $10 million guaranteed.
According to Matt Savage, the Main Event will have the same re-entries structure that the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open had (a tournament which was won by Blair Hinkle).
The WPT Main Event is usually played in May - as such, some have been surprised that the tournament (which will be played for the first time outside of Las Vegas) will take place in April: there's already a tight international schedule. It will be in April that the EPT Sanremo, the EPT Grand Final and the Asia-Pacific WSOP will be played.
