Teddy KGB won't be on Rounders 2

Rounders premiered 15 years ago, time enough for the movie to become known as a classic poker movie. Now the sequel will enter production.

Past Monday, The Weinstein Co. producer announced a partnership with the investment group Qatar Holding and Miramax, in order to breath life into the second installment of Rounders.
 
Producer Harvey Weinstein has revealed that he had already talked with Matt Damon about "Rounders 2", and the process should be instantaneous.
 
Screenwriters David Levien and Brian Koppelman had "a great idea, a way to make it more international", Weinstein confirmed to the website deadline.com.
 
"(...) you start the card game in Paris, that’s all I want to say. There might be a certain beautiful Parisian actress involved in it, and then we’re off to the racetrack and Vegas with Matty and Edward Norton, and a new supervillain to replace John Malkovich.” 
 
The producer also revealed that his interest on having Robert de Niro playing the villain.
 
The movie didn't manage to score huge profits but, to its credit, it has fed the poker phenomenon in a pre-Moneymaker setting. 
 
Even without Teddy KGB, the poker community will await anxiously for the Rounders sequel premier.
