The Seminole Hard Rock Casino had announced a $10 million guaranteed event for the World Poker Tour - this value has been scaled down by half.
It was October 2013 - after the casino had successfully organized a $10 million tournament (which had a $11,920,000 prize pool and was won by Blair Hinkle), the Seminole Hard Rock had announced another $10 million guaranteed for April 2014, during the WPT.
Although the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open is not part of the World Poker Tour schedule, the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown is, and it will be played between the 10th and 17th of April. Since these dates are very close to the WPT World Championship (22nd to 26th of April) and the EPT Grand Final (23rd of April to the 2nd of May), the organization decided to change the value of the guaranteed prize pool.
Initially, the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown was to have a $5,300 buy-in and $10,000,000 GTD, as stated by the casino itself via Twitter.
The final version of the tournament will have a $3,500 buy and $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
